Matana walked quietly through the streets, pondering what to have for breakfast. She could steal something from one of the stalls that were just open up at this early hour of the morning.
If she did that she ran the risk of being caught. Just like last time. She frowned as she remembered the botched pick pocketing attempt of a month ago. She had promised that man that she wouldn’t steal any more. That promise lasted all of 1 day.
I could always go straight and buy what I want. She mused as she looked at the fruit stands hungrily. But then I would have to let myself be seen by the shop keepers and other buyers. So both ways are a risk but which is more so?
Matana stopped to think about that in the shadows, well out of sight of any one who might be looking for her. She had another name too, ‘Lapis’ which is what she gave the boy who caught her when he asked. Matana never gave out her real name to anyone. Only her parents would know that.
She lauaghed inwardly.Today was a new day, she was happy.

Yugi walked through the stands of Cairo, looking for a good place to eat. It was breakfast time and he hadn't eaten anything since some peanuts on the airplane about 5 hours ago. His stomach begged for food as he wandered around, looking at the many stands in what appeared to be a bazaar. He happened across a nice looking fruit stand and knew this was the right place. He was just about to go up to the vendor and buy something when he noticed a young girl hungrily staring at the fruit. It appeared that she was one of the town's poor people, not having enough money to buy food. Yugi could not let her go hungry. "Hey you there!", Yugi shouted as he ran towards the girl, "Don't be frightened, I want to help you. I know you probably don't want pity or anything like that, but how about I buy you some fruit to eat? After all, you need to get food in you somehow, right? Why not let me treat you?"
Yugi was sure he looked quite strange to her. He was a young, short boy from Japan, definitely not native to Egypt, and he had strange hair, even for where he was from. But still, he was his old friendly self that could not sit back and watch as something bad happened. And of course Yami felt the same way. Yugi could feel that Yami felt the same way he did and would not allow this girl to starve while he ate. Yugi could feel their connection was even stronger since they got to Egypt, though it may have had something to do with the puzzle touching his skin. He had thought ahead and tucked the gold Millenium Puzzle underneath his shirt so that it wouldn't get noticed and stolen.

Matana jumped when the older kid shouted at her and skittered back into the alley she had been standing in. She wasn’t use to people taking notice of her. In fact truth be told she went out of her way to make sure they didn’t. Matana remembered that she had been spoken to. He probably expected an answer and that had offered to buy her breakfast. It was nice of him and she smiled happily. “Yes please, Thank you sir. That is if it isn’t too much trouble sir."
She remembered with the nice woman named Senna and wonder if this one would be like her. Nice people are a bound this year. Still one can’t be too careful “what’s your name?” Matana was six years old and she was carrying a weapon. She knew how to use it too. It was in her bag which two steps be hind her. Within easy reach if the nice older boy turned out to be odd. Matana was eyeing him warily.

"It's no trouble at all. I was just going to get some fruit for myself. Have whatever you like." Yugi said to the young girl with a smile. It appeared that she was alone and she probably didn't have any family to take care of her. Yugi truly felt sorry for the young girl and was determined to try to help her somehow.
Yugi watched as she slowly came towards him and the fruit stand. She seemed to be sizing him up, the way she looked at him. Yugi was actually feeling a bit awkward. "Um... I'm Yugi, Yugi Mutou. I've come from Japan with my grandfather to... just to look around. I'm probably going to be going back soon. Maybe even later today. Anyway, what's your name?"
Yugi knew that it was odd that he kept talking like this, but he wanted to show the young girl that he was nice and that he did not mean her any harm. She had to trust him before he could really help her. The whole time, his mind was busy trying to think up a way to help her. He really didn't know what he could do for someone in her situation, but he had to try. Yugi could also feel deep inside that Yami was also thinking of a way to help her.

“Odd place to look around in. far away from… Japan right. Where that?" Manata smiled and looked close at the boy. She recognized him from some where. But where? She thought about it and walked out of the shadows to pick up an nectarine. She set the money on the counter of the stand with a smile.
Matana turned and showed it to Yugi. “Name is Mana. Ever been to the museum Yugi? Want to go with me?” She walked into the alley and pulled up a bag from a corner. She reached inside and pulled out a small knife. She began to peeling the fruit with it. “ever been here before?” She asked quietly looking up at him.

Yugi grabbed an apple from the stand and laid the rest of the money down on the counter. He bit into it and ate his first bite before replying. "Japan is quite a long way away from here. I actually came here because I feel connected to this place for some reason. I know I must do or find something here, but I don't know what."
Yugi took a moment to actually think about that. It was true that he didn't know what he was supposed to do here. He had to search for something related to the Pharaoh of Ancient Egypt that resided within his puzzle. This was hard though, considering he didn't even know the Pharaoh's true name. When the girl that called herself Mana mentioned a museum, Yugi's eyes lit up. "Oh yes! I would love to go there with you. It may have something that I'm looking for. And no, I've never been here before. My Grandpa used to work here, but now we have a game shop in Japan. I can't wait to see what kind of museum they have here in Cairo."

Manata new this guy from some where... but where. She grinned and whispered conspirtorially to him"Its okay i live here and i've never been inside."
Matana ate a wedge of nectarine, smiled. She carefully wiped the blade the knife with the hem of her dress and set it back in its sheath and put it away in her bag. With that done she pondered how many wedges of the nectarine to eat now and how many to save. Matana ate slowly enjoy the taste of fresh fruit.
" well come on. lets go." She luaghed
With that Matana shifted her bag on her shoulder and turned to walk down the street without another word. Her duty came first she reminded herself quietly. No one would believe the secrets she held and she would never tell. The Lost God had to remain buried, for now.
Matana turned back to see if he was fallowing.the reason that had drove her to leave her parents and the one that kept her on the streets were one and the same. If she lived on the streets and constantly moved about, never staying in one place for more that two days. Matana knew she was hard to track down like this. She had no ties to anyone or anything. Few paid any attention to the homeless beggars here in Egypt or any where else. except for nice people like Yugi and Senna.
Matana laughed quietly at that thought. To think her best hiding spot is in plain sight where no one sees you. "what are you looking for if you don't mind my asking?"

"I'm coming!" Yugi called to Mana as he ran forward to catch up with her. He was really wondering if Yami's instinct was right. Since they had met her, Yami thought that she was the girl that had tried to pickpocket him and his friends the last time they came to Egypt. Yugi could surely see the resemblance, but he wasn't completely sure that it was her. Currently, they were about 95% sure though that this was the girl they had secretly been looking for. One of their reasons for coming to Egypt in the first place was to find this girl again. Ishizu had helped them learn that there was more to her than they had thought. They knew that she might know a secret about Yami's past.
"Oh... it's a personal thing for a friend. You see, my friend used to live here. I never could have visited him back then, but now he told me that he wants to search for something here. So, I came here to help him find what he is looking for. And I'm sorry, but I don't think I can tell you what that is just yet. Let me just say that the museum may help me find it." Yugi explained as they neared the museum's entrance.

Confusion flashed across matana face. “Why would the museum help you find it? Doesn’t a museum only have old stuff in it? “Matana tilted her head looked up at him. She was walking slowly with an effort. Matana was tempted to ditch Yugi and bolt. But that would be suspicious. She thought franticly I shouldn’t run away just yet. Worst comes to worse I can always leave. “Hmm. Why can’t you tell me what it is; if you told me this much?"
The Museum wasn’t far. What could he want to see at the museum? “Where do you live in Japan, Yugi?” Shifting her bag to her side Matana opened it quietly. She took out a ragged looking teddy bear gave it a sqeeze before putting it back. Then Matana smiled up at him.

Yugi realized that he may have given away too much information. It looked like the young girl was panicking and she might try to run at any moment. "Well the thing my friend is looking for is pretty old. The museum probably has a bunch of old stuff. I personally don't get why people want those things. I guess it's an adult thing, right? My friend doesn't want anyone to know about it. The fact that I told you anything about it means that I trust you."
Yugi was trying to calm her down. He wanted to make her think that he didn't really care about finding whatever it was. It would probably be easier if she didn't know the whole truth just yet. But Yugi did feel bad about lying to her. He wasn't used to doing something like that, but he knew that he had to do it. It was important that she stay close to him. He knew that there may have been people after her, including Marik and his Rare Hunters. He wanted to protect her even more than he wanted to find out her secrets. "I live in a place called Domino City. It is a really nice place. Maybe I would be able to bring you there one day. I'm sure my Grandpa wouldn't mind me bringing someone else along. Only if you want to, I mean."

Matana put her hand to her lips and was whispered “Is it a secret? I won’t tell anybody. I am keep good secrets. Believe me?” She made a serous face and then laughed. “Nobody thinks little kids can keep secrets but they can. I have lots.”Matana said very proud of herself. “Adults act strange. I’ve seen some play the sand with little brushes and they don’t seem to have much fun. Then they take the stuff they find and put it in boxes and just look at it.”
"Domino city... I know that place! My friend senna is from there. You live there, she said it was nice. Now you say it’s nice too. Is it doubly nice then? Mother says I shouldn't go places with strangers.” Matana smiled and shook her head politely. She laughed ran ahead fast. “Catch me if you can.” Matana shouted back. She wanted to test exactly how fast this one was and she liked this game.

Yugi put one hand behind his head and gave Mana a smile. "Sorry, but I can't tell you yet. Maybe I will be able to tell you soon, but for now I can't. I want to know more about you first. I'm not bad at keeping secrets either, you know. First of all, why are you out here on the streets of Cairo all alone?" Yugi asked with caring in his eyes.
Yugi listened as Mana talked about a friend named Senna that lived in Domino City as well and his eyes widened slightly when she mentioned a mother. "So your mother is still alive then? That's good to hear. Maybe we shoul-" Yugi was cut off as Mana started running away.
Yugi smiled at how innocent she still was and chased after her. It didn't take more than a few seconds for Yugi to see how outmatched he was. Even though he was nearly 10 years older than her, she was used to running around and he was pretty slow for even someone back home. Of course, if he transformed into Yami he would be able to catch her, but he couldn't risk her noticing him. She might have remembered about the previous incident if she truly was the girl who had tried to pickpocket them. "Mana! Hold on, I can't run as fast as you! Mana, stop!"

Matana skidded to a stopped turned around. She was slightly winded as she leaned onto the museum building. Matana laughed and waited for him to join her. "Yes?" She smiled brightly. “You okay?” Matana covered her mouth and pondered walking into the museum. “What were you going to say when I ran off?” She remembered the fruit she was still carrying and ate a piece. “Why am I out here alone? I am not alone; there are a lot of people here. You for instance.” She sat down on the steps “we’re here.”

Yugi arrived outside of the museum a little while after Mana, completely out of breath. The yelling combined with having to chase after this child had tired him out. After a few seconds, he was able to look up, and seeing that they had finally arrived at the museum, Yugi felt energy rushing back into him. His breathing was becoming slower again as he walked into the museum following Mana. He sat down on the steps next to her and ate more of the apple he had subconsciously carried with him this whole time. He smiled as the seemingly innocent young girl explained how she was not alone because other people were around. "I guess you're right, Mana. I was just wondering why your parents aren't here...
Yugi's voice had trailed off as he looked further inside the museum and noticed a sight he had seen before. He quickly got up and ran over to the display case that held the stone tablet. The tablet had only one thing on it. It was what appeared to be a drawing of some sort of fiendish creature, but Yugi had seen this creature before. He hurriedly pulled his deck out of his pocket and searched threw it for the card he wanted. He found it near the bottom and held it up next to the glass of the display case. Now there was no doubt about it. The creature on the ancient stone tablet was the Summoned Skull!

"Parents are gone ... away. Don't know where they are. I'm okay." Matana smiled brightly at Yugi. She laughed at the surprised looked on his face. Matana fallowed him into the museum “You’re acting silly. What are those?” she pointed to his cards. Matana had never seen the like. The stone was interesting “what’s that?” she pointed and attempted to get closer. “Hmm. Why is the glass there?” Matana frowned unhappily. “Stupid Adults, putting things behind glass.”
