Katana sighed, this was one of the only times she could get away from the house without a bodyguard, which was code for someone to watch her. It was early morning, close to eight am. Her step-mother lived the life of a rich woman, sleep until noon unless there are 'pressing matters' to attend to, so she could get out easily. She sighed sitting down on the dock, her feet and the bottom of her long black and aqua dress were hanging over the edge.

Stretching her arms out, Tea made a loud sigh as she stepped onto the dock. For some reason, she couldn't find any of her friends today and she was incredibly bored. Earlier she decided it'd be a nice day to take a long, relaxing walk and ended up here. Her days never seemed to be planned out lately. It didn't bother her though; She loved to go in witch ever way life brought her.
Tea looked farther down the docks and saw a girl sitting not to far off in the distance. She looked about her age and was wearing a black and aqua dress. It was gorgeous and eye-catching. A dress like hers probably costed a fortune. She looked at her own clothes; casual as ever. She wore a light blue tank top with jean shorts. The only piece of jewelry was the gold bangle bracelet upon her wrist. This girl must either be rich, or lucky enough to get very expensive gifts. she thought. But oh well, Tea loved to make new friends.
Brushing a piece of her short, brown hair out of her face, she began to walk in the girl's direction. She could hear her sandals clack against the wood of the pier every step. It was surprising that the girl didn't turn around with the racket she was making. Tea put on her best smile and sat next to the girl. "Hey, I'm Tea," she spoke in her usual, friendly voice. "I haven't seen you around here before." She kept up her smile.

"I'm Katana" She paused a minute as to debate with herself, "Karpa, it's nice to meet you." She added, at first not sure whether or not to add in her last name. Although not many people knew the Karpa name, sure her family was rich and owned the best law-firm in Japan but not many people her age paid attention to any of that, the ones that did always stereotyped her as a spoiled rich kid with an attitude problem.
Katana looked up at the girl, her bangs falling away from her oddly colored aqua eyes, and smiled. She liked meeting new people and because it didn't happen often she wasn't one to throw away a possible friend by being rude. "And as for not seeing me around, that's because I don't get out of the house much. When I do have time it's normally with my step-mother's bodyguard." She answered. The brunette was pretty, even in her plain attire, much unlike herself who needed to be dressed up in fine clothes to look good.

Raven was walking down the boardwalk's path as he did the ushal pickpocket and his mischievious pranks, It didn't matter what time of the day it was whenever Raven was awake it was time to play. "Hmm" he walked pass a man in a buissness suit as he Silently picked out the Man's Walet and walked away diagonally.. "Crocodile Skin, Nice Walet.. haha.." he looked through the walet with some Intrest "ohh sweet! got a good one this time hundred bucks!" he walked to a nearby bench by two young ladies that seemed to be having a conversation, as he took out the 100 dollars and throw the rest of the Walet to the ocean.. "People really need to take care of there stuff better.. tsk tsk..." he said nodding his head with a smirk on his face as he put away the money in his pocket..

Tea scanned her memory to see if she could recognize her last name. She felt as if she heard it before, but she just wasn't sure where. She wondered what kept her from getting out of her house. Nothing was wrong with a little fresh air. "Do you just not like the outside?" Tea asked with her usual friendly smile. Everyone that lived around here was always outside. The weather was to to tempting not to be.
Just then Tea noticed the boy that was walking near them. He looked a little suspisious of something, but she just couldn't quite pin it. "Hello," she said politely in his direction.

"It's not that, my step-mother likes to keep tabs on me and if I leave when she's awake I have to take a bodyguard which is the equivalent of a spy in her eyes." Katana answered sighing. "I love the outdoors I just don't like not being able to talk to people because they could be dangerous. Which in my step-mother's insane head means someone that could know who I am and tell other people I speak to the common person and 'soil' the Karpa name. Not that she deserves it, the only way to describe her is Gold digger. My dad died of cancer and a year later she married some rich bastard that hates all of her kids, and especially hates me because I'm not even hers." She added, more like ranting before looking over to the boy. She didn't say anything, not wanting to repeat what Tea had already established.

Raven raised an eyebrow as he turned to the two girls "sounds like a typical cinderella story.." he said letting out a small laughter as he got up and introduced himself to the ladies "The name's Raven, Raven Raku.. Please to meet'ya" he smiled a bit as he pierced his eyes to the girl in the nice dress, he looked back just incase he would see the man he stoled the walet from "So what brings you two to this part of town?" he smiled once again as he glanced back and forth to the girl "A couple of cute rich girls aren't really seen around here much.."

Tea frowned at his rich comment. Tea defiantly wasn't rich. She was almost flat broke. But oh well, money wasn't important. She had friends and that's all that mattered. "I'm Tea," Tea responded with an overly-friendly smile. "Tea Gardner," she added, realizing it was kinder to give her whole name. Everyone seemed to do it now. I mean, check out Kaiba-Nobody uses his first name. You don't hear anyone saying Seto is so rich! It's always Kaiba has money and doesn't need rules! Anyways...Tea felt her thoughts drifting a little off track of the subject so she decided to just stop the train before she gave herself a headache.

"Katana Karpa, and since you were listening in our conversation the answer you are looking for would be self explanatory. My mother would never come and look for me here." She said smiling. "And you know it's rude to listen into other people's conversations." She added, standing up from her place on the dock. She stood up straight, near perfect posture but still only standing to 5'4. She grumbled, she hated her height, at least compared to all of her family. She got the shortness from her mother, and considering all of her brothers didn't have the same mother as her it would be hard for them to get the shortness gene. The shortest one of her brothers was 6'4 a whole foot taller than her, and it didn't help that the clothes her step-mother bothered to get her always needed to be tailored in the arms to fit her.

Raven seemed to be checking out Katana a bit as he nodded his head "Yeah it's rude, I forgot my manners at the age of 10" he stated in a sarcastic tone of voice. he approached a nearby railing that most people would use for fishing as he carelessly jumped on it and sat down getting some balance, he was right across from the Tea and Katana "So what do you two do for fun around these slumbs?" he looked up at the sun "It's early as heck do be out partying?" he said reffering to how Katana was dressed..

Tea thought for a minute. She knew what her friends did for fun...Dueling. But what did she herself do? Probably just dancing and hanging out at the arcade. She was trying to make enough money to go to a dance school in New York, but she didn't see that happening any time soon. Everything in America was way to expensive. Plus, not having a rich family, it felt like an impossible dream. If it wasn't for Yugi, she would've given it up a long time ago. Friends were also so encouraging. She was so glad to have them. Not really knowing how to respond to the question, she looked to Katana for the answer.

"This, I don't do things for fun. I do them to get away, well other than dueling. That I do for fun, and as for the clothes...It's like a security blanket for me. The last present I got from my father before he died was a bunch of dresses just like this one. It was a new design by his sister's company. It's weird but I don't wear anything other than these." Katana said sighing, and looking over to Tea. She didn't know the girl very well. She hadn't answered yet, so she waited for it.

Raven's eyebrows squinted as he looked at Katana's dress.. "Im lucky enough to be bastard.. don't got to miss anyone when there dead.." he said locking his jaws and looking away...
he then looked at Tea and finally realized who she was "your that chick that's always hanging around with Wheeler and Yugi aren't you?" he said getting off the railing "Battle City's going to be fun when I duel one of those two.." he laughed a bit and turned to Katana "you said you duel? so im guessing your joining big bad Kaiba's tournament to huh?" he said Kaiba's name with a sarcastic voice..

Tea simply nodded. She felt so unknown compared to her friends. Joey was such a great duelist and Yugi was the King of Games. Come to think of it, she wondered if any of the past duelist she'd met even remember her name. Just last week she had to be re-introduced to half of the duelists from a local duel club. Everyone their only wanted to be her friend because she knew Yugi. She felt used. That's not how friends should act.

"My father was the only one who cared about me. I have no regrets for any of my other family if they die, not one of them would care about me. My father was...different... A guy like you wouldn't understand." Katana said standing up straighter than before, keeping her chin up slightly. It was a defense mechanism, she would not cry in front of these people. She would not let the memories of her father get to her.
"I'm going to be at the battle city tournament." She said confidently. The truth was she was shaking in her shoes. She had never competed in a tournament this big and, quite frankly, she didn't know if she was good enough. Sure she knew how to use her deck well, but it's the same deck she's been using since she turned 7. What if it wasn't good enough? What if she wasn't good enough?
